    Default Which reverb & flanger?

Having played my Yamaha THR10C for the past few weeks, I've decided I need a good reverb pedal and a good flanger to use when playing through my Blues Junior. These are pedals I've never owned or considered before. I particularly like the 'hall' reverb on the THR10C which sounds very spacial.

So I'm thinking of the T-Rex Room Mate Junior for reverb. But as for the flanger, I don't have much of a clue. I guess the Ibanez FL9 is in the running... along with the T-Rex Twister (which might also replace my Boss CE5).

Does anyone have any recommendations for either the reverb or flanger?

Dr scientist mini rrr for reverb. It's one of the best reverbs available.
Don't know about flanger I'm afraid.

I can't say about any boutique pedals, but:

    Flanger

Boss Flanger. I own one, and it does do a pretty good job. 2 "regular" flangeing modes: Normal and ultra. ( the ultra is the more jet engine-y of the two) plus a gate/pan mode, which does the gate effect in mono ( think The Smiths "How Soon is Now?"), or if you have a stereo rig, it'll pan back and forth. Also a momentary mode- where the flanger only works when the foot switch is held down. It also has separate inputs for guitar and bass. As a GASaholic, I'm still looking at others- but this does do the job nicely for a reasonable price.

TC Electronics Flanger. This has a cool vintage sounding through zero mode.

    For reverbs

TC's Hall of Fame, or Arena. Both have many different types of reverb, inc the spacious hall reverb you were talking about. This one gets a lot of good reviews from users.

If your pockets are deep, you could always go fro Strymon's Blue Sky reverberator, or the Flint!

The Ibanez fl9 is my favourite flanger I've owned. I find it can be a lot more subtle than many other flangers, it adds to your tone rather than completely taking it over. It also has less of that metallic quality of many flangers. It can do a chorusy type sound well as well.
There are plenty of YouTube vids and most give a pretty good indication on how this sounds.

The Mooer Eleclady is a nice small/low cost take on EHXs Electric mistress.

Some people love the old Arion SFL 1 stereo Flanger than can be picked up cheap S/H. This is a really thick chewy flanger that really takes over the tone. Pretty much the polar opposite to the Ibanez. I didn't like the one I had much but it shows that opinions and flangers vary considerably!

The MXR 117 thing is supposed to be good but I've not played one myself. The micro flanger suggested above is a good shout as well.

Reverbs... I'll let someone else recommend one. I happily play a digitech digiverb which are cheap but hardly cutting edge these days. A decent budget option though for sure.

MXR micro flange is an excellent flanger.

I had (and sold) the Boss flanger. I found I didn't really like the sounds available
for sale, MXR Zakk Wylde overdrive. PM if you're interested.

I would go for an EH Deluxe Electric Mistress but they are far too big, so I give a thumbs up to the Mooer Elec Lady. Not exactly the same and the static sounds can be a bit erratic, but they are tiny and affordable.

For Reverb I love the EH Holy Grail (old style), Again, the mooer Shimverb is a cheapish option but not as lush. Maybe the Boss Fender Reverb pedal? I haven't tried one but they are supposed to be spot on.

I recently got an EHX holy grail plus. Pretty happy with it, it's versatile, and you can get some pretty lush, deep tones with it. I'd recommend it

For more of a budget option, have a look at the Biyang Tri-Reverb.

Very versatile. It has modes for room, spring and hall, with 2 intensity settings for each. Can get very huuuuuge if needs be.

    Only about £40 new too.
