    Default Looks like another fake???

Looks to me like it should say Squier on the headstock.

I don't think I have ever seen a Squier with a 2 point trem though in lefty form so could be a descent body but that neck to me screams out Squier with a new logo on it.

Is it just me or is there a pattern with people trying to fob off fakes by playing really dumb in their listing descriptions?

I'm not an expert but it just doesn't look right to me.
    What do you think?

He did buy it for the £300 though:

Pics are the same on both listings, though he could have used the old pics to re-list.
Both listings also do the play dumb part.

Not sure if I'm missing something - he does say in the listing that it's not genuine and invites people to come and try it.... I did get the impressed that he knows more about it and the history than he is letting on and playing dumb but apart from the title he isn't trying to claim it's genuine.

    I agree with John_P.

I don't think the seller is trying to push it as the 'genuine' article. Nothing suss here.

I miss read the bit where he says in his opinion it's not genuine, my eyes kept focusing on where he is pointing out the serial to the fender Web link and the previous description saying about not being a Squier.
It's just that price and the neck that looks like a Squier, couldn't help thinking someone's going to be really disappointed.

Squier Standards had/have 2 point trems. He says it has white plastics originally ans the shape of the truss rod adjustment route and the tuners suggest to me its a re-badged Squier Standard.

It's a Squier standard, I have one identical except in colour and left handedness. The trem cover, truss adjustment and two point trem machine heads etc are all the same. Not to say it's not actually a nice instrument (alder body) ... I love mine. It's most certainly not a USA ... or even close to it ... it has the affinity width nut for a start.

I agree about the Squier Standards being great guitards for the money, especially for a modding platform. Not owned one myself but wouldn't dismiss one, even with used MIM ones being fairly cheap now.

I feel a bit sorry for the seller though, if it's def just a Squier Standard then he was well bumped, he paid £300 plus £25 shipping from the original seller for a guitar that is around £250 brand new, and prob no more than about £130-£150 used (maybe a few quid more for an excellent specimen)

Just goes to show you really do need to be careful and to see guitars in person before buying off the used market unless you can guarantee it's authenticity, if unsure always research first or get some opinions from people who know such as you guys from this very forum.

There are several ways of looking at this: firstly 'I've been told it's a fake, and I'm selling it as one' but leaving a twinge of doubt ... enough to sucker a speculator, is a pretty well known tactic to hook buyers (used with paintings for years) so I don't really feel sorry for the seller. Neither do I feel particularly sorry for him paying £300 for what he hoped might be a US fender. If it's to good to be true ... walk away. What he's saying is that he got a bit greedy, fell for an old trick, and got stung. So now he's going to try exactly the same tactic ... just for less money on someone else... hummmm that's charitable of him then. He's still selling it for well over the going rate for a Squier Standard (paid £125 for mine with upgraded pickups ... that I sold on for nearly as much as I paid for the whole guitar).
