Sweet Home Alabama is ALWAYS there.

And any noob who turns up without knowing what they want to play always gets "blooded" with Red House. In Bb.

Sessions/Jam nights are my favourite thing in his country ever!!

There's nothing like them bacj home in Australia. I was nervous too at first but once you get over that it's amazing fun. The experience you get from just playing with other musicians is great and really speeds up progress at guitar playing IMO.

I go to a few (My GFs dad has been going to them for years so I tag along and have become 'one of them' now) and all of them have only nice, helpful people. Never heard a bad word from anyone at any of them.

My favourite songs to play are just stadard 12bar blues shuffles with any lyrics really, or acoustic 'Hey Joe' goes over well pretty much everywhere, and I play lots of australian songs just to educate the english people on good music!

Anyone on this site live in the Stoke area and go to any good sessions? The best one I know of is at The Wilkes Head pub in Leek, every monday night from 9pm. Genuinely amazing musicians, some of them travel a long way to be there every week. The pub landlord kinda runs the session, he's been/played/lived everywhere and is a right character. Play everything from blues to traditional to jazz to bluegrass and coutry to modern stuff.. I love it, so much fun.
Looking for a good Wah pedal? Budda, Fulltone, RMC Teese? Anyone got anything?

Exmouth. Was in the Old Barrel until it closed recently. Now we're in The Dolphin in Beer on Sunday afternoons.

Thanks, all. Although a lot of mentions of songs I can't play is not dampening any fear! Although it is giving me ideas of what to attempt!

All that I saw in Banbury this week was a lot of improv blues, including a vocalist and saxophonist, and the teenagers with their beginnings of a band, which actually I quite enjoyed.

I'll brush up on some of your popular jam night suggestions and do a bit of blues to backing tracks and see where I go from there. I'll dust off Teenage Kicks too - I can always join the teenage emos's band
