Default How do I make nasty Noisia bass sounds?

I dont know if you guys are familiar with drum n bass, but noisia has some of the most nasty sounds when it comes to dark dnb. Just wondering if people can shed any light on how they create those sounds, which synths are the best for creating them etc..

You should head over to the Grid, they even gave an interview there and mentioned a lot of their techniques.

First off, you just wont get anything like it with a sound coming right out of a synth. They use filters, distortion, more filters, etc etc, and then bounce stuff to audio, apply LFO's, bounce down again and chop up. Re-sequence etc etc.

Basically, they have a bizarre process that ends in something but they themselves often forget how they arrived there.

For a lot of techniques like that though, you can find out on the Grid, people often post up examples and share patches and sounds too.

They just use the synth bass preset of the Microsoft Wavetable Soundset.

    Or perhaps not.

I believe the highly complex secret is a piece of tracing paper attached to a bass woofer...
