    Default Cables

Despite their totally woefull customer service (long story - ended up with me telling them to fuck off on the phone) they do make superb cables. Award-Session seem to churn out superb cables and I use them all over my "rig"............I hate that term. It's not as if I drive a truck?! Anyway..............

I just ordered a few more cables from them. Some XLR's for my new mixer, etc and some angled jack to straight jack for my GT8. The straight jacks don't fit into the flight case when connected, and I'm lazy, so I picked up angled jacks.

Anyway, getting hand-made cables has proved to be cheaper than off the shelf China-jobs. Not just today, but every time I've bought from Award Session. So despite the fact that the guy I spoke to on the phone about year ago is a bell-end, they do a good job. So the next time you're buying cables, check them out.

    The end.

Defintely worth a look. Prices are comparable to store prices, but they're hand-made.

They'll stick your name/band name on them too?! If you're into that!?

Yeh I thought of using our fellow forumite's service, but Award Session are roughly half those prices and certainly not half the quality.

I spend more on materials per cable than they sell theirs for, so it's hardly a fair comparison. I'm willing to bet that they make more than £3 profit per cable. And they're still not "roughly" double the price.

    3m AS cable - £10.10 including postage
    3m MFX cable - £14.50 including postage

Buy what you like but please don't misrepresent what I do. I'm not sure I've ever sold you any cables so I don't know how you can make any comparison on quality between them.

Reel your neck back in a second. I didn't misrepresnt what you do. I never bad-mouthed or anything like that. In fact, I even considered buying from you - as mentioned above.

However, the example on your site :

"but as examples, a 5m (15ft) Klotz cable with one right angle jack and one normal straight jack would be £16"

That similar cable from award session is £8.60.

I've just spent £100 on cables from Award Session so by my rough calculations based on the comparison above, it would be a lot more than £100.

    I include postage, they don't. Nor do they list a 5m cable - just a 4.5 and a 5. Working it out a 5m would be £12.05 including shipping.

So it's £12.05 vs £16 - again not anything like half the price.

All I want is a fair comparison - even considering that they don't use the same materials, they don't seem to do at-cost lifetime repairs and you said their service is crap. And, as I said, you're not in a position to compare the quality of the two as (as far as I know) you've never used one of mine.

You'll never get a fair comparison as they have different ways of working, policies, costs and ultimately they use different materials.

All I was stating in the original post is that you can get hand-made cables for less than store bought variants. There's numerous companies that make them and AS and Monkey are only 2 of them. I chose AS for a number of reasons and that's the end of it as far as I'm concerned.

It's up to people to make a choice before they buy.

When you said "Award Session are roughly half those prices and certainly not half the quality" you were wrong on the first count and in no position to judge on the second.

I just don't want people to read your post and write my products off on the basis of misleading information. That doesn't seem much to ask.
