Ableton Live Disappearing Acts!!!

im currently run Live 6.0.7 on my pc. before i got the internet at home about a month ago everything was running sweat but for the past few weeks Live's interface keeps disappearing when iam running it ie, vst windows disappear, dropdown menus also diappear when i run the mouse along it or eeven when i dont!!!

iv tried updating my graphics driver but that hasnt solved it, its just annoying that this is happening all off a sudden. anyone else having the same problem or does anyone else have any tips?

im thinking off buying another hard drive and doing a dual boot, audio work on 1 and internet etc. on 2, but this leadsa me to another problem. when iv reinstalled windows and live in the past, my mp3's come up as corrupt but then suddenly start working even know i have no recollection of installing any new codecs before it starts working again, anyone else know of this problem?

I got a brand spankin' dell laptop a few month's back well spec'd cost the guts of 2 grand and from instalation on day 1 with ableton the dropdown boxes and vst windows etc. disappear for no reason contacted dell and they sent sum1 out and its still the same after the newest graphics card and I dunno what else he done with it lol but after another call to dell and a dead on fella having a look thru my laptop online the best he could manage was toright click from desktop on properties and increase screen resolution helped abit but still have the same problem!!

might try without internet since your's was fine before you introduced it!!

I too have had this problem since I first bought it.... Ive asked Abletons tech guys as well as other software/hardware manufatures whose equipment I have llinked up... and everyone seems to not have a clue.... just changed my video card... still the problem persists

There are a number of websites which talk about optimising pcs for music. If I read the symptoms correctly, what you have is a backgound process interrupting the program, such as Adobe phoning home to see if there are any updates.

Disable the services you don't need, and optimise the Ram for background processes. Fix the paging file at a fixed size and trash the useless windows themes and sounds.

If I am reading it wrong, then

1. Make sure Ableton is a legit copy - non-legit ones are very often trojaned, and you have given your pc away. Reinstall windows.

2. Try Reaper.

From what I've observed, I'd say that freeware and bootlegs are most likely the cause. The solution is to do a clean install of Windows and then install only Ableton Live and whatever other software you bought. Do not install software that might be suspicious, such as freeware media players, vst software, or downloaders, etc. If possible, It's always a good idea to have your studio computer completely offline to ensure operating system stability. Having a separate internet computer is always worth the investment. If you must use any freeware on your studio computer, then install them one at a time to isolate the culprit, which may then require another Windows install to be certain it's gone. I doubt the problem is caused by any sort of video driver issue, as I've been running Ableton on a freeware-free, offline, Nvidia driven computer without a hitch.
