    Default Building an electronic kit.

Hi everyone. I don't have the room/sound insulation that would allow me to have an acoustic drum kit, so I've decided to resort to an e-kit!

I have looked at pre built ones, but all are too expensive as I have a shoestring budget of £200 max; However, earlier I stumbled upon this site http://www.electronicdrums.com/pads/pads2.htm , which informs you how to build your own pads. Unfortunately I can't seem to find all of he parts in the UK. Has anyone else got any recommendations on how to build your own e-kit?

I would plan on buying an alesis trigger IO to plug straight into my mac.

    Thanks in advance, Ijjy.

What bits are you having trouble finding?

The whole remo kit thing, and some of the rca jacks.

Also, has anyone on this forum built one before?
It would be great to have some first-hand opinions.

Well, Maplin, CPC, RS or Rapid all do RCA jacks.

Without the pads, though, it'd be a bit tricky. Google came up with a whole raft of practice pads on sale in the UK though.

Ok thanks. I was mainly wondering which pads would do the job, apart from the remos.

Is there an easier way of assembling your own kit, involving triggers?

No idea. First I've heard of the concept.

Don't Maplin have a dirt cheap MIDI kit?

    Probably, an ion or similar...

I read on here that it was really on/off, and this seems worth the effort if the hype is to be believed.

If you spent a hundred quid more you would get a decent ready built midi kit. Much less effort, and much better than a shoddy Home made thing
