The component count is too high for it to be a straight rangemaster/fuzzface/tubescreamer type doodah. Having seen the (genuine) schematic for his Strat active circuits I would expect that there's nothing magic, but just good engineering, quality components and such.

As for the goop, it saves having a no-talent boutiquer change three values and claim it as their own design.

The Boost pedal I bought because my new Victoria amp sounds a bit dark with humbucking pickups (there are no tone controls on it - just volume). With the pedal in front of the amp it gives my guitars with humbuckers some bite otherwise missing.

The Overdrive special I have put in one of the gig rig loops and is a very flexable pedal.
Two channels - First goes from clean boost to mild overdrive and the second channel takes over from there up to full distortion without going in to metal territory. The boost switch gives either channel a volume lift handy for solos. There is also a hi cut switch to stop things getting fizzy.

This pedal is a million miles away from my previous overdrive, the Boss SD-1 which I personally found too bright even with the tone set to minimum. The pedal is also seems pretty quiet in terms of background noise.

I hope to put up some sound clips at some point (no promises though!)

All in all , money well spent
