Default Which wah's have a wide sweep range, with not too much resonance....

Which wah's have a wide sweep range, but not too much resonance?

What I mean is, when a wah gets towards the end of the line, and its heading towards fully toe-down.... some of them sound really trebly, really brittle, and generally nasty as hell ear peircingly blerghness...

Are there any wahs that have a wide sweep, but that don't have this excessive amount of treble when rolled up?

As an analogy for what I'm basically after... in the VST plugin domain, there are low-pass filters with a controllable resonance - this is how much of the signal that is fed back into the input (I think).... I'm after something like that I suppose, but in a wah pedal form.

hmm - maybe try and demo a Boss v-wah : there's a 'custom' setting where you can set the sweep range, freq etc so might be able to achieve that
    Red ones are better.

Have you tried a Morley? I used to have an 80's Power Wah/Volume which sounded so smooth and musical but so wah. It stopped working and I replaced it with a 70's JEN Cry Baby and a recent Jim Dunlop 95 Cry Baby which although great in what they do both sound quite nasal in comparison. I'm currently searching ebay for Morley's. Swaps anyone?

    I have one of these:

It has a adjustable "Q" so you can turn down the treble if you want.

You know you can adjust the amount of treble and sweep by moving the strip of teeth and the gear on the pot around...

Personally after owning 2 Morleys I'd never make that mistake again. Great service department though.

You sound like your looking for the same as me....only I will have to get mine(when I find it in the future due to being skint and a tax bill on its way )

The good ones are always the more expensive ones....the Fulltone ones sound sexy on the Youtube demos. Colorsound are reputed also to have a great big sweep and not sound harsh on the toe end.

Ive got a digitech EX-7, couple of wah models on there which are extremely tweakable. The vox model on it sounds right up your street, i bought it for the U-vibe model as im not much of a wah person really but that vox one is lovely, not harsh at all and very vocal.

ps, its for sale in my sig btw! *hint hint*

My fender fuzz-wah arrived today, sounds like it might be just up your alley. I'll try and do a demo recording.

    That would be great RadioElectric!

Guitargeek: I think I'd prefer a non-modelled wah, thanks all the same though!

Try the Ibanez Weeping Demon wah. That's got an adjustable sweep, level and something else that I forget. It sounds really good anyway. Quite affordable, too.
