If you are looking for a particular sound then a modeling wah will allow you to experiment with a number of different wah styles. You might then decide to trade the modeller in against a "real" wah. I have both a Crybaby and a GT-8. Having tweaked the GT-8 settings it comes pretty close to the real thing in AB tests, the biggest difference being the weight of the treadle. In sound terms there is no real difference, certainly not in a band mix.

It's totally psychosomatic, and I fully accept that. Don't want a modeller !!

ps, its for sale in my sig btw! *hint hint*
+1 for the EX-7. I use one myself and the wahs are ultra tweakable. Very good in the stock settings too. It's nice to turn it on 'heel down' and have the distortion come in with the wah.

I shall endeavour to try one out soon. Might be good after-all.

So the GT8 destroys your tone when the wah is disengaged and screeches like an angry gibbon when ever its turned on? Sweet.

I think I'm going to be returning (if I can) or selling my Fender Fuzz Wah. Funnily enough, the sweep is too wide and isn't resonant enough for me. It lacks "honk" at the lower end of its travel and that's my favourite thing in a wah.
