True story : an Avionics technician I was working with ordered 10 capacitors from the supply system - but transposed a couple of digits. Far from being able to solder a couple of them to a board on the nav computer the next day it took 2 weeks and only one turned up...on the back of a low-loader

Ace. That's like a real version of the story where a US Navy destroyer got 200 battery powered torches, and a US Army base 800 miles inland got an anchor.
