    I have to admit that I'm a bit tempted too. I usually just buy the bits I need, but it'd be handy to have an experimentation setup that doesn't mean doing a PCB each time.

    Hmm we used to have a kit like that in school when i were a lad. Nothing new is it, probably cheaper to buy your breadboard and bits/packs and solder a few main parts together like jack sockets aint it?

    Yes. It'd be cheaper to do it yourself, but that's true of everything. Though you'd need a fair few tools to build the board and the enclosure and so on, so if you didn't already have most of the stuff it'd end up costing you more altogether.
