    Default Reason or Logic ?

My iBook will be there tomorrow.
I saw that emagic are advertising their big box : http://www.emagic.de/english/bigBox/bigbox2.html

But I doubt this is optimized for MacOS9

    So, my question is :
should I rather go for this offer or for Reason+Orchestral pack ?

Are there some iBook users here who could enlighten me so that I make both a Logical and Reasonable choice ?

Concerning the use, I am not limited to a style, but I still want something versatile to compose on the go.

Something good with this box is that it comes for both my home PC (winXP) and my iBook (Mac version) so I could do some fine rework, here...

Erm, it's also the case with Reason...

The Big Box is superb - Logic Audio 5.3 is like Logic Gold from the 4.x series but with excellent automation, multiple VSTi outputs, and free instruments. The deal of the year in my estimation.

As for OS 9 optimisation, check to see which version is actually shipping with the package. The ideal version for OS 9 is 5.3 - I've read from the Logic Users Group at Yahoo that folks are taking performance hits in 5.5 (which offers little beside the ability to use the new version of EXS24). What you'll probably get, if you decide for Logic, is version 5.1.3 or something. Emagic only has the updater for 5.5 at the web site, so you'll have to dig up the 5.3 updater. If you find yourself needing one, PM me and I'll post one in my public folder at Mac.com for you to download (I'll PM you my Mac.com identity naturally).

Never tried Reason so I have nothing to say one way or the other about it-sorry. But Logic Audio 5, aaaahhhh....

Get Logic. Reason is a bit... ummm.... limited. If you can afford Logic, there really isn't much that it can't do. The midi timing is tighter than anything else, the audio recording and editing is great, great sounding plugins (not even counting all the 3rd party VSTs, etc.). It is a true professional recording program, whereas Reason is a very capable, advanced groove box in a computer.

    I have both.

I hardly ever use Reason. Logic does it all for me.
