    Default Les Paul....'pimped'!!

    Hi Folks,

Sorry in advance for the SPAM but I took my CR8 VOS Les Paul along to my good friend, John from JXG Guitars yesterday and he gave it a little TLC Off went the Klusons, pickups, pots and caps and on went the following:

    1) 18:1 Grovers
    2) Bulldog Pickups (custom wound by Hayden@ Bulldog for me , Alnico 5 neck and Alnico 4 Bridge, 2 wire, nickel covers)
    3) RS Vintage upgrade kit (CTS/ RS pots/ Jensen caps)
    4) 'De-VOS-ing' of guitar, polished to 'Gloss' finish (which is a Gibson upcharge from the standard VOS finish)
    5) Full set up, intonation, pickup adjustment and frets polished.

    WHAT a difference.

I know it's maybe a bit off putting for some folk to start ripping apart your pride and joy guitar but I can't stress how much of a difference this makes. Many thanks to John and would heartily recommend using him if you are in the North East/ Newcastle area (or even further afield as he can arrange delivery/ pickup etc). Top service and excellent guy to deal with:

Big thanks to Hayden at Bulldog too for the Custom wind pickups and overall service, heartily recommended too

    Cheers

    LOL

Surprisingly not, well OK yes, it all came to a pretty penny but I will sell on parts of the CR8 I no longer require which will make some money back. As for John's charges, all I can say is you'd be genuinely surprised at the (relatively) low cost for the labour for this work...well worth a phone call to John to discuss any requirements/ upgrades.

If anyone is thinking of upgrading their Gibson, I genuinely would recommend it and would offer anyone (if they are ever in the Edinburgh area) a try out of mine just so they could see/ hear what I'm rambling on about

    Cheers

I paid a fortune for that 'design'!!! Ah well, at least I had my old moth-eaten Faces T-shirt on when I took the pic (as you can probably tell)

Why does everyone seem to get rid of the "VOS" finish and gloss it up? Im itching to do the opposite to my 245!!!!!!
