not everyone can afford a fifties telecaster but you can get one with the same spec so why not get one that looks the part as well?
Because its shallow to put aesthetics before functionality?
I'd rather have a guitar that sounded good. Thats what its for. Not posing.

I'd rather have a guitar that sounds good, plays nicely and looks cool. If it doesn't tick all three boxes, why bother? Who honestly wants a guitar they find ugly?

I'm not saying I would buy a guitar that looks old if it didn't play well or sound good
    I'm not even saying I'm a fan
but is it shallow to buy a guitar you like in blue instead of red because that's your favorite colour?

    Not at all.

Buying a guitar in red is shallow though.

I wouldn't save a guitar if the house was on fire. They're all insured. I'd make sure me and Lady BMcH got out, and given even the slightest chance I'd get the rabbits out too. After that I'm getting a safe distance away.

I can't play for toffee, so I pick guitars purely on looks. It's a system that works well for me.
None of you seem to understand; I'm not locked in here with you, you'll all locked in here with me.

Total and utter bollocks - it's just a finishing process to get a desired look on a guitar. I can't see why people get hot under the collar about it. I can't be arsed paying extra, so I'd never buy one but I wouldn't criticise someone that does.

And one benefit I've been told you get is a better setup and attention to detail.

    and my dog
I think I'd save my epi sg cause it's my first ever guitar and I've never seen another one like it

If you get a ding in a SRV or Rory Gallagher reliced guitar, does it drop in value?
I have visions of people prizing their fake bashed up guitar as much as their Les Pauls or PRS's so much that they end up only being played at home in case it really gets damaged.
I have nothing against people wanting to buy these guitars, but I'm sure it pisses off those who have spent good money buying real vintage guitars - if the techniques for aging get better, then it becomes easier for fake relics to appear for sale as real.

I'm sure there are many fakes already out there. However I do know that Fender CS relics have the fender CS Logo (or similar) stamped into the body and neck.
