THeyre jsut a honking great lump of metal shoved on the bottom of a guitar. Why does every one love them?

They are fucking amazing. A very simple trem that does what it says on the tin. Looked after correctly they can give you hassle free use, you don't have to adjust them when you change string tension or change tuning and they look cool.

Yup, the only trem to have an infinate pull up (well, untill the strings snap off)

Is there any reason the handle is so chunky. Im sure someone could make one that functions the same way but looks a bit more streamlined.

Personally I love my Bigsby, its a bit of a pain when it comes to restringing but other than that its the proverbial dogs danglies---sounds great, stays in tune and looks the part. Jobsagoodun.
