I'm almost a complete lefty..
left handed / left footed..
the only things I do righty are play piano shoot a rifle / shotgun, archery and hockey
ahh yeah.. and piano / keys... not much choice there.. lol..

I was taught to play drums righty on a righty kit...
but with my hands I always lead with the left...
kinda made some things difficult..
and I ended up with my right foot on the kick and left on the hats..
I do prefer playing on a lefty kit though

when it come to guitars.. my first encounter was with a righty bass..
it felt all wrong but I struggled away with it... then there was a righty acoustic that still made no sense to me..
but I did notice that when I flipped it over the other way it immediately felt more comfortable..

a few years later I was given a righty acoustic the was strung lefty
I was shown a handful of chords.. and within 48 hours I was playing it...
it felt so natural and the whole thing suddenly made complete sense to me...

my first electric was a righty that I strung lefty.. a Kay plywood nightmarecaster
my first proper lefty was a 78 Strat [which I still have and adore]

I only ever had one guitar teacher [at secondary school]...
thing is.. I could already play reasonably well by the time I was allowed to take guitar lessons...
he taught me the basics of sight reading... introduced me to some Bach [which I loved]..
but really we spent most of the time jamming and trading licks..
watching him play made sense to me.. it's a mirror image...

the only guitar related thing that being a lefty caused me any hurt was the lack of models available...
seeing all them beautiful top end guitars...
knowing I had the money..... being completely in love with them..
left handed - not available..
heart breaking...

there is a flip side though...
you have to get creative... you find a way...
you make it happen despite your guitar and not because of it...
