    Cheers Nick,

I'm not sure what it's worth TBH (OK, not a fiver!). It's had so much work done to it and is not in an original condition by any means so rules the collectors out.

I enjoyed the project in doing most of the work and it does play well now which I'm happy with. I've GASed on a new amp however so it's time to shift this one on

Pity about the pickups. If it had the proper pickups for a Deluxe it'd be splendid.

Not that I could afford it anyway!

I did consider filling in the routs then re-routing for mini buckers or P90's and re-doing the gold finish but I just didn't think it was worth it to be honest.

Good solid LP with a bit of road/ relic vibe and some new/ old hardware added for good measure

    Cheers

Due to the idiots that seem to run Ebay these days, my ad was removed. See how long this one lasts:

There was another deluxe on ebay recently with a buy it now of £850, but I missed it. 1970s cool looking, but again a players guitar, why did people change the deluxe so much ?

Many reasons, the 70's LP's weren't what the people really wanted back then so the story goes. People wanted the famous 50's LP's but these weren't as cost effective for the Norlin owned Gibson company to produce.

As a result, pickups 'leftover' from other Gibson/ Epiphone guitars were fitted to many LP bodies already routed for P90's. Pancake bodies were also 'in' as were big headstocks and volutes which a lot of people despise.

Another reason many 70's Deluxes were butchered is that the '70's were really the 1st era of guitar 'upgrades' for the masses. People like Seymour Duncan and Larry DiMarzio launched some of their most famous pickup/ aftermarket products in this era which many plays were eager to use. As a result, many a guitar was chopped up in the name of tone. To be fair though, there wasn't a huge vintage market back then and prices for even the hallowed '59 LP were 'sensible' even if still on their way northwards. Therefore not many a player who ripped out their pickups and changed many parts to brass were not, at the time anyway, doing much wrong.

Hope that answers your questions. NOW, do you want to buy this guitar

    Cheers
