    Nope, that's a RG770DX.

They did also re-issue the RG500 though - they're different models.

This thread contains the only two nice blue guitars every posted on this forum. Ever.

I think that new version looks fantastic.

    Ugliest designs ever.

What kind of warped mind would even entertain designing such a thing, let alone owning and playing one?

    Sick.

The RG, like or loathe it, is a classic design. From a player's viewpoint it does pretty much everything it is needed to. The thin necks are very fast and flat and only the pickups let them down.

All the ones I have played have been pretty damned good guitars. Feel wise they are great workaday guitars that do everything. However, they are fucking ugly aesthetically meaning that they suit only a specific kind of music and look wrong used in other circumstances in which they actually play and sound perfectly well.

That headstock is especially nasty, especially as Ibanez had such a good headstock design immediately prior to it (on the Roadstars and such).

But the main point: those colours? No. Unforgiveable.

Time to start growing a mullet then.

Actually, most rock guitarists I know still have the same mullet from last time.

On the colours I agree, especially the horrid multicoloured pickup reels. I had a black RG550 for 17 years (from 17 to 34) and it was a really good instrumen once I put EMGs in it. It got gigged, travled many places and never let me down. I know have a 7 string RG which has been painted in a blue/purple burst by Neil Morgan and it is also very good (except the hideous EVO pickups).
