Question help!! looking for a new guitar..

    Hi everybody.
I am an intermediate in terms of technique but totally a noob in guitar hardwares and stuffs.
I am still looking for a second guitar, but I have no idea in how pickups and those controls work!! Anyone can help explaining it?

I was thinking of adding a killswitch to it.

A kill switch simply mutes the output of the guitar. By toggling the switch rapidly, it gives a kind of stuttering effect. First heard (I Think) at the end of the guitar break in The Who's Anyway, Anyhow.

You can create a kinda kill switch without installing one if you have a guitar with seperate volume controls for each pickups like a Les Paul style guitar etc

Just turn the volume all the way down on the pickups your not using so that when your playing on the other pickups and put the selector switch into the other pickups position the sound is muted

Now just flick the switch back and forth really quick while you play and you can get that sound

This is what Tom Morello used to do
