Default Ryan Adams to take a break / quits music

This is a great shame. One of the most gifted songwriters around. 'Heartbreaker' is one of the greatest records of the '00s.

...I think my heart just stopped.

If the Cardinals release a record without him it will be a pile of shite.
I'm back and better than ever.

That's a shame. I never got to saw him. Hopefully he'll have a triumphant comeback tour in a few years..

Ryan adams and another guy from the band that he's in were on the Dermot (fecking) o'leary radio 2 show a few weeks ago, ryan's chat made me throw the radio out the window, my Mrs said 'thank fuck for that, but you could have just turned it off'

Ryan is a talented man, but he has been throwing it away since Gold, Love is hell was great, but his company at first would not release it, and went for the not so good rock n roll, which got bad reviews, the then released love is hell got amazing reviews, since then he has submerged himself in medicore albums, and medicore bands.I am happy he has left the cardinals, they were great people, and I am sure talented in their own way, but buddy baxter and that crowd that worked with him around the gold period were so much better.
I hope he just makes a few good solo albums now.
the last cardinals album is rubbish, easy tiger had its moments, however fleeting, cold roses grew on me, I think it could have been a classic if the right musicians played on it, and the right producer was on it.which means get ethen.
oh and 29 is so bad I can not even listen to it

It was good, but Gold was better.

I still remember seeing him on his "Gold" tour at the Astoria (RIP). He played for nearly 3 hours and my friend and I had to leave early in the encore so we wouldn't miss our last trains back. Naturally I have a bootleg, so all is well.

But anyway, quite simply an amazing show. He'd punched a door the previous day and broken his right hand, yet he still played the show in a cast...Rock and Roll!

I have to agree that since Gold, I've really lost a bit of interest in him. "Demolition" was OK and what I've heard of Love is Hell is awesome but his other stuff really doesn't do anything for me.

No doubts about his song-writing talent though.

    He shall be missed.

It's a shame - but his health is definitely of great importance, so i understand that concern.

I have to say I find Heartbreaker the better record. Everything about it is divine.

Lixarto, what did you find out that made you shudder?
