I'd be the first to say something like that normally but I reckon they just keep getting betterer and bettererer.

Did anyone get the transcription of 'The Pot' in a recent guitar mag? I never saw a copy. Still, if I wasn't so lazy, I'd work it out if I was really bothered

I don't see how two distinct signal paths can create alternate parts though!

There is a Victor Wooten tune where he uses a bass with 4 outputs - 1 for each string.

He manages 4 parts that way.

He is a freak mind you!

Nah - to build a frigging huge wall of sound so the guitarist would feel like an optional extra!!

Never needed a rhythm or keys player to "fill out the sound"

It let me apply frequency specific drive and FX and never get any thinning at all.

I never bothered with Opiate: a friend told me years ago not to bother and so I never did. Undertow is really good, I mean it's got Sober and Prison Sex on it, but the newer stuff is just so much more layered and cerebral that I prefer it. They are a band who move a step forward with each release.

I still say Aenima as best overall album though!

Opiate is a 6 track EP with 5 solid tracks on it whereas Undertow is a 10 track album with about the same amount of top notch tracks.

Also half of Opiate is live which is fucking awesome.

Post Aenima (ie/post Justin) really is gigantic leap up though.

Most is different to some... that was the point I was making.
