    Default Learning Jazz

I'm looking into learning some Jazz right now. Are the any books -preferably with a CD- that you would recommend, on the subject? I have seen a few in shops and don't want to buy a clunker.

    How serious ?

Good bluffers book is the Fretboard Roadmaps Jazz one.

Jody Fisher series of books have a solid reputation - have a CD, think there's a DVD now too.

Jimmy Bruno No Nonsense Jazz Guitar DVD is excellent.

I found The Art of Bop Drumming by John Riley inspirational and informative

Then there's a sequel, Beyond Bop Drumming, which has much the same approach and is equally good.

+1 to the John Riley book. Also, if you can find it, Lepak's "Control and Phrasing of the Drumset" is great for technique and soloing ideas in a jazz context, but it doesn't have a CD.
