Hi everyone, my name is Andy DiGelsomina, and I'm the composer and lead guitar player of the Metal Opera project, Lyraka. We have a highlights cd due for 2010, and a 3-d animated movie and video game due in 2011. We have enlisted the estimable vocal talents of Graham Bonnet (Rainbow, MSG, Alcatrazz) for our music.
This project is heavily indebted to the composer Richard Wagner for inspiration in terms of orchestration and allegorical lyrics.
Many of the songs have a strong '70's era Rainbow/Deep Purple/Black Sabbath/Dio influence but with elements of Romantic-era classical music, Opera, Jazz, and Blues music as well.
There are rough mix soundclips available, one for the Epic Metal track, "Beyond the Palace" here:
The other is for the Starstruck-Meets-Strange-Kind-of-Woman-at-a-Jazz-Festival track called "Coronation":
Andy DiGelsomina: All Music Composition, Lead Guitar, and Lyrics.
Graham Bonnet: Vocals
Andre Maquera: All Production, Rhythm Guitar, Bass.
Gary "Spud" Spaulding: Drums
Tim Luce: Vocal Engineering
Not really my thing, the whole operatic metal scene, but gave Beyond the Palace a listen.
Hard really to comment on just 35seconds of tuneage, but liked what I heard. Got a nice old-school feel to it. Personally, I'd bring the vocals down a tad and the guitars up, sounds a bit misbalanced, but that's probably just me. Liked the backing vox, too, brought the track 'up' a little
