in fairness most gripes that i have read seem to be about the Roadhouse series. I cant recall hearing about issues on the MK50. I had one and it was a monster amp. Wish I had never sold it. I REALLY regret that sale

    Cool..

Not sure if I stretch for a MK II, or go for a cheaper Mk 1

You only have to be bothered about bad service if:
    a. something goes wrong
    b. you can be @ssed to get it back to them in Whitstable

If it's over a year old, bought used, aren't you more likely to take it to a reputable local tech?

With the MK or the Hellcat, you're getting a quality point-to-point amp.
Decent pro artists are gigging them. I'd have another given the right time/right price.

Id have to agree - I have had a MK50, Hellcat and a Hurricane. The only issue i had was on preamp valve going in the Hurricane. I dont think its correct to assume that a new design (almost) untried PCB based product has the same service record as PtP top end heads.
Im looking at both these items on Ebay too and am seriously tempted!!
