Default Feeler - Tech 21 60W Power Engine

Hey all. I am thinking of selling my Tech 21 Power Engine - not definite yet so just gauging any interest. Details as follows :-

Bought 3 months (second hand) ago as I knew my back was getting worse and it seemed an easy and v light way of gigging. Since the surgery I reckon I can step back into the heavier valve amp arena again - as I am improving well. Sorry about the medical history but explains why I got it and why I am thinking of selling it. I've not used it needless to say.

    Spec:

+ 1x12 open backed cab. Celestion Seventy 80
    + 60 Watts transparent power.
+ On board 3 band ACTIVE EQ to compensate for differing venues. Otherwise no tone colouration. Low/Mid/High boost or cut +/- 12dB from centre 12 o'clock position.
    + Volume control.
+ Can be used with any direct recording device or pre-amp - analogue or digital, tube or SS from any manufacturer.
+ Ground independent inputs and output.

For pics and more spec please see Tech 21 site. I'm not too good at links....

It's in good condition with a few minor scuff marks but nothing noticeable IMO. No marks on front grille.

    weighs 33 lbs ( 15Kg ).

Looking £180 or thereabouts. Collection from Abingdon/Oxford area but willing to travel a ways within reason.

What are these Tech 21 units like with Line 6 type modelling gear? Are they noisy? I'm interested if handsomerik doesn't buy it.

No, they are very clean and they are fantastic for doing the job. I've done gigs with a Tech 21 PE simply as a "make loud" box for my Digitech GNX3000 floor unit which does all the amp sims I want.

To be honest, while I love the Marshall JVM half stack, the sheer simplicity and light carrying weight of the above arrangement is hard to beat.

But... Tech 21 support is non-existent. I had a PE go kaput and got no help from them. Had an amp tech have a go at fixing it and it works but now it's a noisy fucker. (I refused to pay him but I've still got to get this fixed so if any one knows any good amp repairists...)

    Fret,
I believe, as Grunfeld says, they are very good at simply 'making loud' any pre-amp/modellers etc as they do not colour the tone. The active eq is really to compensate for the venue. It is all very simple and light.

On the subject of customer support - I had heard very good things about Tech 21 and to be 100% honest, I emailed them with a question on the Power Engine and was astonished to have been sent a reply within two hours..........time difference or not. Maybe Grunfeld got them on a bad day. PM me if you are interested - handsomerik is in Suffolk so that means couriers etc - said I'd have a think about how to do it but the less hassle for me the better as I am still recuperating.

Don't suppose you have the email addy you used by any chance? [/long shot]

I emailed the buggers twice and was ignored both times but maybe I was emailing the wrong address.

This worked for me - I got a reply straight back ( actually 2 replies ) from Lloyd Schwartz, their product manager.

Hope this helps and they are able to sort you out.
