Well, the bridge, back and sides are all Rosewood - so thats a possible.

Also though, the guitar has always been on the warm side when compared to Martins, Taylors and Taks - so maybe I should give the Brass ones a go.
I would take a great song with Bad tone over Great tones in a shitty song anyday.

Done some reasearch on variouse sites, including TGP, Gibson, Martin and Taylor.

The result is Ive ordered these which are 50p less that I had left in the Paypal account.

Ill let you know if they make a difference, and if so what that difference is.

Having tried plastic, ebony and buffalo horn with the same guitar and same brand of strings I personally prefer the buffalo horn - slightly tighter than the ebony which with a shorter scale length and mahogany back/sides sounded a bit flubby. With an Avalon though, ebony might be just the ticket. For a modest handful of beer tokens you can buy my ebony pins if you want (assuming they fit - please pm if interested).

Edit: just read your post at 7:57 - oh well, I'm sure the buffalo will be dandy too.

I can see brass being very zingy. Might be nice though.

In my experience tone modifiers come in this order of magnitude:

    Saddle material
    Strings
    Picks

Bridge pins-and I'm very much a sceptic. In 40 years of playing acoustics I've only ever noticed one difference; aesthetic.

rule of thumb , the same material as your bridge makes it like one "unit". or i have camel bone ones which are lovely
