The sound is pretty good isn't it. Ta for posting cos I've been thinking about getting one of these recorders.

The drummer's using an electronic kit and I just wondered what the overall level was like during that recording. Do you know if the H4 can cope with the levels generated by an acoustic kit?

I havent tried with an acoustic kit in this room but have used it on live performances but the rooms were cement walls, quite small, so sound was bouncing all over the place.
You can set the gain to low which is recommended . I will post soon once I have tried it for more applications

pretty decent recording! And the E-drums sound pretty decent too actually! Has the wedding been yet? if so, how'd it go for you, and the boys?

I also like to see a band doing stuff like rush when so young. When I was 15 my band were attempting steve vai, satriani and dream theater tunes. I can garauntee that has improved my playing ten fold!

Wedding is Aug 15 and unfortunately the bass player just quit. He said he would play our wedding because he committed to it but it makes it difficult cause they have some new songs they want to learn.
We are thinking of triggering a bass track for anything new but havent figured ourt the best way to do it yet.

You are definately right about improving. The more challenged they are the better aand tighter they will be with the easy stuff

The 1979 cover is really good, the mistakes just make it more "organic" you could say. Its not as if they've all majorly forgotten the words or something, LOL, its actually more watchable as you know they're doing it.

As for the H4, if its anything like the H2 I have it should record some pretty brutal levels. I took mine into work where industrial machinery was being used and it coped very well. On the side there is a switch for three level settings, but these can be further adjusted with the track FWD and BKD buttons in record-monitor (you know when you press the record button once to set the levels and hear the audio, press it again and it starts precording proper)

They are absolutely brilliant units. I think Zoom has a new model out, or out soon.. but with better connectors and mic. Should be cool if its off the ground.

Yeh, my dad has an H2 so I borrowed it and that was the first time I had tried one. I too thought it was brilliant so when I came across an H4 at a pawn shop I picked it up for 175.00 canadian.
I noticed the H4 really seems sensitive to the low end frequencies. It has a low cut filter but I think it only works when recording through the inputs using the amp modeling, Not sure though. Dont know much about recording yet so just been playing around with the wav files after the fact.
Also havent figured out where the best placement is when I take it to a larger room like a hall. Not sure if I can take studio headphones and preview what I am recording and then walk around the room. May try that next time.
