    Someone buy it FFS

This is a really good traditional Marshall valve amp, perfect for gigging with Celestion Heritage speakers and for small amounts of money. Nuff said really

Most possibly ... I was actually thinking about an HT5, but that's not a million miles away I think??

I forget where you are Shaun ... refresh my memory! Just that that JTM60 is a fairly heavy beastie, and I wouldn't want to entrust it to a courier service.

Well im Near Birmingham so would be a bit of a trek!

I already have a marshall dsl401 at home and use the orange at rehearsal but was just after another marshall to use at the rehearsal space.

I think logistically it might be a bit of a 'mare.

Not necessarily - I have to head North sometime in the next couple of weeks, so could detour up the lovely M6 if that would help?

That would help a lot! Let me have a bit of a think about it because one thing I will miss is the portability of the TT.

Would you do a straight swap?

Why are you ridding yourself of the amp?

I'd like a little cash as well ... particularly if I was detouring to deliver ... help me towards buying some sort of cab to go with the TT. What do you play it through?

Short story ... because it's an amp suitable for gigging, and I don't gig, I only do home playing and fun jamming sessions!

Full story ... I bought it when all I had was a 30 year old 30w 1x10" trannny amp which (a) sounded crap and (b) didn't really keep up with the jamming drummer. I wanted something bigger and louder, but didn't realise that 60w value of 2X12" Marshall was a lot louder. A LOT LOUDER. I could have just turned the master vol down, but I then bought an Epi Valve Jr (GAS bargain!) - which is loud enough to jam with drummer - and so have ended up using that all the time and not using the Marshall. Which is a real waste because it's a great amp.

I realise that the Epi Valve Jr is hardly the pinnacle of small valve amps, so my grand plan was to sell the Marshall and the Epi to fund a better small valve amp. I was initially thinking HT5 - and would still prefer one to a TT - but having read the TT reviews and listened to the sound clips, I think the TT could also do the job (even though it seems to polarise opinions).

And with my forum user name ...

I bought the Marshall from FastBoy - you can read what he thinks of it in the posts above ...

I play it through a home made cab with a marshall speaker in it. Does the job pretty well even if it doesnt look like a pro job.

I dont gig too much yet but would like to get rid of the single channel amp in place for another dual channel amp.

I really am in 2 bloody minds about this amp, the reviews on HC say that the sound is nothing short of superb but then the stories of the amp breaking down sound bad!

How much cash would you be looking for on top of the amp?

    amp delivered, + £50, = your TT?

I'm aware of the reported reliability problems. But you have to bear in mind that this will affect only a small minority of the amps out there - otherwise Marshall would have had to recall them all and fix the problem. It's always the same with any product or service .. if you have a problem, you shout and make everyone aware of it, but if you have no problems, you just keep quiet.

FastBoy had no probs with it, I've had no probs either (though, to be fair, I've barely used it). I think it just needs common sense. If you place the back of amp tight up against a wall where there's no air circulation, then obviously it's going to get hot. It's an open-backed cab so I'm guessing that it's been designed to cool with circulating air rather than by using other cooling methods. As long as it's placed away from (ie 12"+ from) a wall, so that cooler air can get in - and hot air out - then you should be fine. To be double safe, eg if you're using it for a few hours, point a small fan at the back of the cab ...

But on the topic of reliability ... is your TT affected by the recall? Can you PM me the serial no? See - nothing's perfect!!
