@Jobu, do you know the Danish band 'Veto'? Their frontman released a solo album and then put a lovely a-capella from one of the songs up on his website for anyone to use, cd quality .wav too!

Check it out, I'm close to finishing my version, looking forrward to posting it up on his website!

Scroll right down to the bottom of the page and there is the original track with music video and then the link for the vocal underneath.

I'm not familiar with that no, but I've listened to it now (once) and maybe find it interesting. The tune's ok, the video gave me little in addition tbh. Tell me when I'm able to hear your contribution, TFS!

"So you're finally going Cubase, Dave? "

Err...no!...Well I am not the musician anyway. I just earn money and solder.

For what I use a DAW for Samplitude 8se serves all my needs.l find Cubase so time consuming just to setup a few ins and outs! No sig gen in C either AFAICT?

My son dabbles with it a bit for MIDI but even he goes for Sam for git grabbing!

B doctors interrupted! Welcome back Ten.

    Dave.

It's more a result of habits and routines than complexity imo, even tho Cubase have become less intuitive when it changed to the SX engine than it was in the previous VST.

I can tell you that I've fiddled a bit with Samplitude to see if I could use it as a free app on some of my other comps but I find it sooooo little intuitive that I ..............

Oh! I totally agree JOBU. Fact is we started with a £9.99 WHSmiths copy of MAGIX Studio Generation 6 and Sam is very similar but lightyears better.

In fact SG6 is still a very useful recording app' for a tenner. Drawbacks are 16bit op only and the MIDI is pants on XP tho' I am told it worked on 98se.

I originally bought Cubase SE3 so that Son could get to grips with some basics of an "industry standard" (he had dabbled a wee bit with C in Paris). Then I bought a Tranzport and found SE3 lacks Mackie control! Steinberg keep bloody quiet about that one! So I upgraded to Essential 4. Tranzport works fine but we have lost the drums! Ah well!

I am toying with the idea of going up again to E5 but have no idea if there is any real point? Is the BIG Job Cubase 5 loooaads better than 4?

    Dave.

To me it is,but it depends on what you're looking for. It's so big that most people doen't use more than a fration of the options it gives and just scratching it's surface;.........and so are paying a lot for things they never use. Often the Essentiel version is enough, but......?
    G'night!
