Thread: recording help?

  1. #1

    Question recording help?

I am rubbish at technical stuff. i am really shit. which is why i need help with this.
i am currently in possession of: an apple mac with logic seven, not much money.
i currently only want to: plug in a few condenser mics to my computer, possibly through a mixer or soundcard, so i can record my guitar, bass and (absurdly poor quality drums - using a hanging mic.) how can i do this for very little money (i am a student)

p.s. i also have a speaker with phantom power, mic inputs and outputs and three band eq (plus reverb and miniscule delay) could this help?

Your question is too big to be answered. The answer is the content of 5 books at least.

You've made the answer #1 yourself. Plug in the mic and record! Then you'll figure out what you shal ask for the next step. There is a lot of good sites on the net that will guide you through the basic steps for noobs in computer music makin'. Here is one alternative:

Errr... I'm not familiar with macs but it doesn't sound like a big problem... just look for a good external sound card/box for the mac. There are loads of external sound cards that have two mic inputs and line inputs so I guess some may have more. Or you could plug a mixer into the sound card. Of course, if you plug the mixer into one input then you'll be stuck with one recording of the whole band, so multiple inputs would be better. You may even be able to get a box with built in mixer. Who knows. This isn't very helpful, is it.
