Need recommendation on an external sound card. I am running a Sony Vaio laptop, windows vista home premium. I am using FL studio for producing and Ableton for jamming loops and want to get into "DJ'ing" full tracks through Ableton.

At the moment latency is a big problem and ASIO4ALL doesn't seem to want to work with the Vaio sound card. At the moment it's just hobby stuff for in the house after work but wouldn't mind playing in a bar or something somewhere down the line.

An audio pro recommended the Motu UltraLite-Mk3 to me, said it's the dogs, looked it up and it's a bit pricey though. Spoke to a shop assistant and told me the Motu has 8 inputs in the back and can be used as a stand alone mixer with inbuilt FX. As everything I do is done with softsynths and samples and am just a hobbyist with a latency problem the M Audio Fast Track Pro will suffice and it's half the price.

My problem isn't so much the cost, it's I don't live in the UK and while getting stuff shipped to me isn't a too much of a problem, it's getting rid of it. If I was in the UK I'd buy the M Audio and if I found it wasn't enough for me buy the Motu and stick the other on ebay. I don't have that luxury here so am looking to buy something to not only fufil my needs but fufil the needs of an unknown future.

I assume the Motu will have superior rendering capabilities but is it worth double the price? Any opinions, anyone used either or got any other advice?
