    Default MAC or PC

    Hi,

Currently using PC for my music Production with Cubase 5 but i am considering switching to a Mac Pro or a Macbook Pro.

I dont use my PC much for other media things but thats only due to windows being terrible for it. If it was there i would probably use it a lot.

Price of software and hardware is what puts me off the Mac, and being limited to Apple software. I like the freedom of PC's

    Any advise would be great

    Thanks

Just switching to a Mac Mini (using PC keyboad,/monitor/mouse) will probably butcher it and add more RAM, and a Firewire external big disk.

Things like Reason & Ableton run on MAC as well - so you're not locked in unless you choose to be (Tracktion is seemingly a dead-end so I am making the switch to Logic Express).

Just discovered the wonderful little SoundFlower Audio router (free).

Only thing so far that hasn't really transitioned from the PC well is my QuickCam 9000 camera - really annoying that there are so few decent resoltuion webcams that the Mac supports (assumption being you buy a Mac screen with a built-in webcam).

Macs are nice, but more expensive. The money saved by going with a PC could by used to buy other goodies.

If you are considering a laptop, the Macs tend to be very rugged - this might be very important to you.

If you REALLY want to use Cubase stay on PC.

Take it from a former longtime cubase user.

I prefer Logic and Live on my Macs
