Default Clearout (now with Pics) : Tanglewood, Blues Jnr, Squier, EMG, Pod

    Hi All,

Trying to have a bit of a de-GAS. I've only been playing for 8 months but have amassed far too much kit. So I'd like to get back to one guitar and amp to focus on playing for a while.

Happy to provide pictures if anybody is interested in any of this. All prices exclude delivery, which I'll just charge at whatever it costs. I'm located in Aberdeenshire and would be happy to deliver locally.

    1. Squier Affinity FAT Strat (HSS) fitted with EMG SA/SA/89 active pickups. £240

    Lots of pictures available HERE

A few dings on the Squier but it seems to my novice eye to be a really nice guitar (considering how cheap it is). It's black with a sort of sparkly black pickguard, which looks pretty smart (to me at least). Everything seems to be nicely put together; straight, low action etc. I'll throw in a Marshall gig bag and a cable.

    2. Tanglewood Evolution Folk (TSF-CE) Electro Acoustic

    SOLD

    3. Fender Blues Jnr Amp

    SOLD

    4. Pocket POD with mains adapter £60

    Picture HERE

    Cheers,

    Andy

I wondered whether somebody might ask that. The problem is that it would leave me with a pretty useless Squier. I mean, it was cheap to begin with and after having at the cavity with a chisel and filing the pickguard a bit to fit the EMGs it is not going to be worth much, which is a shame as it looks and plays pretty well with the EMGs.

Having said that, I do still have the original pickups and my daughter's school have been asking for people to donate guitars for the kids to learn on. So I guess I could just give it to them.

OK, then. I think I paid £240 for them. How does £180 sound?

    Cheers,

    Andy

Where are you? That Tanglewood might interest my brother if he can collect or if postage can be done at a reasonable price (reasonable from the courier, not from you...)

I'm in Aberdeenshire (7 miles from Inverurie and about 25 miles from Aberdeen). I could deliver within, say, a 50 mile radius.

I've just stuck it in the original box and that measures 110cm x 52cm x 15cm at the widest point and weighs 4kg. Looking at a few courier services on the web it looks as though it would cost something in the range of £10-£15 to ship, depending on who you go with.

    Cheers,

    Andy

You paid £240 for just the pick ups?

Yes, seems to be about the going rate for that set

I guess it depends where you sit on the whole guitar vs pickup debate. There are those who think that every detail of the guitar (down to the paint) matter and others who think that all that matters is the pickup and you can mount it to anything and get the same sound. Not sure where I stand on that, but these certainly transformed the sound of the Squier.

I can see that sticking £240 pickups on a £100 Squier might sound daft, but the only real criticism I've read about the EMGs is that they sound the same whatever guitar you put them in. So, by that logic, a cheap (but fundamentally sound) guitar is the ideal base for them.

    Cheers,

    Andy

Thanks for the info. We're several hundred miles south of you so courier would be the only option. I'll ask my bro'.
