    Don't use a drill. You need one of these to open the holes to 3/8".



    If you go slowly you should be okay.
    I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

    Thanks for the tip. If I decide to give it a go, I'll probably have to order it online, as I didn't find one of those locally. I also suspect that if I do find one here, it will be with metric measurements.

    Reamers are tapered so just

    10 enlarge the hole a bit
    20 try the pot in the hole
    30 If pot fits goto 50
    40 goto 10
    50 end
    I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.
