Default Help - Martin Acoustic - UK Hands On?

Seasons greetings Forum - I trust that you are all enjoying a fab Christmas holiday?

I have a bit of a problem and I really would appreciate your help.

I've done a bit of research and decided that the Martin HD28-V is likely to be my next purchase.

Just one minor point though - I'd quite like to get my hands on one in store and prove that the theory is as good in the hand as it is in the virtual world.

However, living as I do in rural Wiltshire - suitable outlets seem just a bit thin on the ground.

Whilst I am happy to head into the capital if it means that I can try a Martin or two (and in particular the HD28-V) - I really would appreciate a steer on a good store for me to visit so that I don't end-up wasting my time!

    Any idea's?

The 28V has a very pronounced 'V' profile neck which I found uncomfortable to the point of being painful and thus unplayable. It's the same with the OOO-28EC and the OM-28V which I owned for a while and quickly moved on-because of the neck.
Personally I'd go with the normal HD-28 if you're really after that dread 'boom' but I found the bass a bit overblown and indistinct (scalloped bracing) and settled with a regular D-28 which has a much better balanced tone.

I found that with V necks too - painful!. I know feck all about acoustics but quite fancy one soon. Nice comfortable chunky C profile for a dyed in the wool electric player??? Any suggestions?

+1 for guitar village. Closer to you too. And they have good stock of new and used martins.
