I'm not counting upgrading old software, so I voted once a year. There's enough to learn in kontakt reaktor and cubase for me to start dabbling with new software too often.

It depends on how much I'm spending. When I bought Reason I didn't buy anything else for nearly a year, partly down to cost but more to do with it being such a versatile program it can easily keep you amused for that length of time. Sincs then I have bought numerous VSTs off the net, sample CDs and the like. It boils down to how long the amazement factor lasts with something.

Once a year I'll maybe buy something, but I'll download freeware every time I see something good (about every couple o' weeks). I won't usually keep it though after playing with it.

DrF, you have made an interesting point, that price is an issue, I wonder how much people spend on average a year on software and hardware?

Me thinks a poll would give some indication!
