Don't get my intentions wrong, these are good kits - I have built one myself and love it to bits. Added to which, with a few tweaks it can use a 6N1P output valve - bringing the output down to less than 1 watt (for home use).

i am not sure if i am happy about your post my friend! now people go to the ampmaker website and build their own instead of buying mine....thank you

and btw. it is NOT exactly the SE-5a kit. that is only the 5 watt version. i am selling a modified version here with 10 Watt....

Steady on there - cool down a bit......you're making some pretty big assumptions that everyone out there has the necessary skills (and / or inclination and / or time) to build such an amp.

Believe me, there's an awful lot that can't or don't want to build amps, but that shouldn't stop them from buying one from someone such as yourself. I have absolutely no axe to grid here - and would have been happy to see the last two lines of your response to my query without the "attitude".

But to back up GASman, I'm glad he pointed out what it was i.e. a kit, because when I first saw the ad, with mentions of £1000, I thought it might be some boutique amp builder. So, it ought to be clear that it's built from a kit. One could be forgiven for thinking otherwise which could be unfortunate.

Hmm. Not making that clear in the original post makes me wonder what else the seller might be concealing.

    +1 on that
I lost interest once the undisclosed facts came to light, there's nowt wrong with selling something you've built from a kit or trying to make a profit. But getting uptight with another forumite for pointing out some true facts isn't going to win any customers.
To quote a dragons den .. Im Out.

Mind you that Ampmakers kit does looks good at £150 plus another £90 for the head box ..

    retracted

Ampmaker has a 36W kit which should be plenty loud enough, between £285 to £350 depending on the components you go for.
