asian glittery buzz

i'd love to give my synths (and other sounds) the kind of glittery buzz that indian instruments often have.

is there anyway of reproducing something similar with synthesis?

well, thanks for you help lol.

i think i got it figured, and i'll tell just in case someone else wants to know. i'm sure it could be implimented as a plugin.

its a detuning thing.

what you do is this:

take your sample, copy it to multiple layers, apply a randomised pitch bend to each sample never exceding 0.5 or -0.5 of a semitone.

stick them all back together.

i worked it out because somewhere someone had made a guitar to sitar effect with similar principles.
