    This.

BUT, Nike do put ALOT of R&D into their running shoes. More than most companies. If you can get a good deal (end of season line etc) you can pick up very good running shoes for not alot.

But Brooks are fucking awesomez. As are Saucony.

Just reminding everyone that trainers are strictly gym-wear, and so you needn't be seen out and about in them.

Not that there's been talk of any such nonsense in the thread so far, but it's always good to warn youngsters and oldsters alike just to be on the safe side.

its rare that i wear any sporting foot attire - i pretty much live in shoes (well, i live in a house, not a giant shoe; but you get what i mean).

On the rare occasions that i do i wear cheap conversealikes from the likes of matalan for about a fiver.

not strictly true, most trainers as we know them today were developed for running, and general 'outside' training. Especially the makes - Reebok, Ascics and even Nike were pretty much unknown in the 70's outside of 'serious' track and field athletes......... the 'big three' back then were Adidas, Puma and Gola..........with Inter (now Hi-Tech) and Mitre in there for the 'poor boys'

My trainers live in a bag. I carry the bag to the gym, I put the trainers on at the gym and they go back in the bag at the end of my session for my walk home. It's amazing how much longer they stay good for.

    Is this acceptable behavior?

This is why I differentiate between trainers (shoes designed for doing some sort of sport in) and sneakers (casual shoes not intended for sporting purposes).
