    Default Citylink couriers.

Anybody used Citylink before? I booked my Fender HR Deville 4 x 10 through Interparcel.com
See below the e-mail i just sent to their customer service dept:

    Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to strongly complain about the poor service and attitude i received from the Citylink courier driver that uplifted my parcel from ********* at around 4pm on Monday 26th April.
Instead of lifting my parcel the driver chose to role the item which is very fragile possibly causing great damage to the contents. On telling the driver that this was not acceptable i was criticised for not adequately labelling the parcel and told that i was lucky it was being uplifted at all as it was too heavy and required lifting by two people.
I returned into my home for a pen and wrote on the parcel "Fragile" . I then helped lift the parcel into the rear of the van with the driver. I requested his name for reference but he wouldn't divulge it.
He then left without leaving any receipt.
I found the whole episode a major inconvenience, thoroughly unpleasant and totally unacceptable and found the attitude of the driver very confrontational and unprofessional and feel i have no option but to complain about the terrible service i received.
I look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours Sincerely,
    K.

If it's cut and paste there are errors. Personally I'd make it far more succint and also indicate exactly what you want from them. Do you want assurance that your grievance is being investigated. Do you want clarification of their treatment of heavy or fragile parcels (to make sure you're inside their policies) i'd also say it contained glass components rather than very fragile.

Sorry if that's a bit dismissive ... oh arse it's been sent... hmm hrrmm I'd always go for post over email. In an email start by saying you had an uplift and didn't have a reciept left... then take it from there.

I hope it works out. Hopefully it's okay.. they trashed my simm watt and it cost me and the buyer £75 to set straight.

so you have no proof that driver even collected?? [trembles]

aside from that what do you think happens to a parcel in transit, yes rolling it down the road is a little off putting but its going to be bounced all over the place before it hits its destination, but you don't actually see it so you are none the wiser.

one of the staff at our local PO just throws parcels into the sack in a scary fashion, but its gonna get worse on the journey.

It would be libellous to call some of their drivers and warehouse 'operatives' crooks, so I won't.

    Thanks for the advice.
I just wanted to hear managements stance on the situation then proceed from there. Tbh, i'm expecting very little joy i just wanted to let other potential customers know of their standards but going by some of the comments on this thread it seems their reputation already proceeds them.
Normally i use Home, DHL or Parcelforce, known of which impress. If you want a decent courier service i guess you really have to shell out for something like fedex or that other US company with the wee square brown vans.

Hope your problem gets sorted out, with that sort of shoddy service you have every right to complain, I know I would if that happend to me. I can't really comment on CityLink myself much since I have never sent anything using them (although from reading this thread they don't sound popular round here), I have received stuff using that service, however it was only very small items not really likely to be damaged.

One thing I will mention though is that from personal experience that US Company with the wee square brown vans (UPS I'm guessing you were referring to), are very good. I used and still use InterParcel myself to send guitar gear I sold and any other large items I may sell in the future (the amps and guitars I sold recently) and I always chose the service that sent UPS. I have had no problems with them, and the people who have come to collect all the stuff I sent were good and I had no problems with them. They also in my mind have good prices. If you want a good service on things as large as this (of course you have to pack it well), present or future I'd recommend UPS personally.

Received a message on my answer machine from the Boss of Citylink Carlisle. He thanked me for my e-mail, was very apologetic and assured me the matter was in hand. Apparently there have been complaints about the driver in the past and it's very likely that he will be seeing his P45 in the very near future.
I feel a bit guilty now that the guy's most probably going to lose his job but i guess that's up to his employers.

Don't feel guilty. If they don't do their job they don't deserve to keep their job...

I got a DHL guy a bollocking a few weeks ago- was collecting a couple of parcels from me between 9 and 5 and usual, i came downstairs at 8:40 to find a 'sorry we missed you' card marked 9am on the mat. Severely not-amused.

In contrast, my local HDNL guy is brilliant
