Default Where to download drum tracks for Roland drums?

    Guys,

We have bought a Roland TD9KX V-drum set-up for our practice room.

We often can't get anyone to play drums - so where can we download drum tracks that we can get the V-drums to play by themselves - so we can play along??

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Erm.....you got a TD9, despite not having a permanent drummer. You guys must have money to burn!! I think youve bought the wrong item if you want it to play drums for you

Whilst the TD9 is a great kit, its basic (and its supposed to be)
There is a record function built into the TD9 module, however it records as you play. So that doesnt help you.

As far as I know, there are no samplers, beat makers or loops built in. So sounds to me like youve bought the wrong thing.

I THINK there is MIDI out, but no midi in, so not gonna help you either.

There might be a line in for an Ipod, so then its just a case of getting some pre made beats and hitting play on the ipod, sadly I cant remember exactly the spec on the TD9. But one would argue, if you can use beats from an Ipod, why the need for the TD9.

I have the TD3 Roland kit and you can trigger the sounds via midi, so you could play the drum tracks from midi files via a laptop or similar. If you want to try that then buy a USB midi interface, they cost about £30. Connect a midi cable from the USB interface to the midi in / thru of the Roland. Download and play a midi file via any sequencer and mute all the tracks except the drums on channel 10. This will give you the drums parts playing from the Roland.

In all honesty though as much as the Roland kits are great to play and well thought out in terms of zoning and velocity the inbuilt samples are pretty poor. I normally play and record a song on my kit but then use Drumagog to replace the kick and snare hits for much better samples.

I doubt your regret buying the Roland though, we have one in our practice room and some drummers prefer to use due to the more controllable volume.

You can trigger Midi, but it still means you have to play the drums yourself. And the OP is looking to not do that if i read correctly.

What the OP should have done is buy some decent drum software, and program the drums. Sadly, a TD9 will not program drum tracks. So it sounds like a pointless purchase given what they want to do with it.

I can't actually believe you've got nobody to play 'em, You wouldn't get me off of them.

Although I have spent nearly 20 years playing acoustics and still love them, I had to switch to electronic 10 years ago due to living in a terrace house and I'm now a real convert, especially after using the sequencing facility and all the other sounds and loops you can trigger from a decent electronic kit.

That said, acoustics still look the business on stage.

Still can't get over you buying a kit without a drummer though, as you could've just purchased a drum machine.
