don't know much about the guitarport. it has pod farm software, whereas guitar port seems to have gearbox. GX also doesn't do the online thing, which never bothered me in the slightest, but maybe that's more your thing..?

The GX does allow you to use Gear Box and the Line 6 GuitarPort online service. GearBox allows you to load backing tracks, loop them or sections of them [to nail that tough solo] and slow the backing track down whilst keeping the pitch. It also has amps, cabs, mics and effects. GearBox is free from the Line 6 site.

GuitarPort online provides lessons, tab and tones - I think you can still get a free trail. It's great the way the tab moves with the backing track - and the backing tracks use pro musicians like Vinnie Appice.
