    Default Songs for beginners?

So I'm learning, I've got a kit, a couple of books/dvds and I'm practicing basic beats and getting to grips with rudiments. I want to start playing along with some songs, stuff with easy-ish drum beats, from a range of genres. I've played along to Don't Look Back In Anger by Oasis, which seemed ok, but does anyone have any other good suggestions?

    Cheers

I've been taking lessons for a few weeks now , working from the "Rockschool - Hot Rock" books ... note not the normal Rockschool stuff , the Hot Rock stuff is Oasis , The Police, AC/DC , Muse , Undertones , Metallica , Free covers - 2 versions of each song , 1 shortened and with more emphasis on variation of beats and the second version "off the record" , supplied with 2 cd's with loads of versions (with drums , without , with clicks etc) , well worth a look !

I was gonna say anything AC/DC as well. It doesn't get much easier but if you're feeling really brave, why not give Moby Dick a crack

    Cool Greenday, Ramones, and Nirvana

The easiest way to start off is to play the basics while really paying attention to your strokes as far as volume goes. With these bands it is easy to get carried away and play too loud or fast. Greendays "Brainstew" is a great starter song. Also, Smells like teen spirit sounds difficult , but its beat is actually less of a brain stresser than most of nirvana's other stuff. and the Ramones "Blitzkreig bop" is just about as easy as it gets... as soon as these are mastered i usually let my students step it up a little with one of my favorite songs to teach, "in the stone" by earth wind and fire.. this song will teach timing, stops, and will break you out of the steady rock beat and teach you some groove

Back in Black is a great place to start, you really have to concentrate on your timing rather than rattling off fast rolls every 2 seconds.

From there "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath is good and anything off the Black album by Metallica.

Songs i'm working on at the minute are: Number of the beast, Highway star, The boys are back in town and bits and pieces from songs like Davidian by machine head and Immigrant song by zeppelin
