Mobile upgrade suggestions please.

Due for an upgrade in about 6 weeks and would appreciate some suggestions. I'm on O2 and have currently got a Nokia 5800 which is ok but wondering what new phones are worth looking at.

Main criteria is:

Touch screen - normal buttons get clogged with dust etc at work
Alpha numeric text input - not keen on qwerty for phones but guess I could get used to it.
Be able to access full internet - MR, Youtube, Facebook etc
Decent sound/video
Decent camera
Good range of apps - Nokia's biggest let down imo
Minimum 8gb memory

Only three I've briefly looked at are
HTC Desire (heard a lot of forumites raving about it)
Nokia X2 (similar to current phone but better specs, same shit apps though)
I-phone (more likely the previous version as v4 will be way too pricey)

So whatcha think?

On another note, I was speaking to O2 today about some problems with my sim card not always registering and they said it's because my sim is an old "non 3g" one. I've had the same sim for 6-7 years I think and they reckon a new one will work better with my phone - faster internet etc. They're sending a new one out but is this bollocks? Internet's always been slow unless connected to wifi, can't watch a 30 sec youtube clip as it takes too long to load. My brother in law's got the same phone on Orange and his is much quicker. Pretty sure his sim is fairly new though.

I have no need for "apps" though - 99% are cynical marketing, the other 1% I have other machines for

Edit: didn't see the end bit, but yes, you need a new sim card if yours is that old.

The desire is really nice, I've had mine for several months now and still love it

Apparently the "best" way to get one on o2 is to buy the handset and then get a 12 month simplicity contract at £15 pm. Think this works out a bit cheaper than the "free handset" contract deals and its only a 12 month contract this way. Personally I moved to virginmobile because they offered me a great deal.
