Out of those I'd say the Desire.

I have a Samsung Wave, it's really nicely specced, has a gorgeous screen, but I would rather have an Android phone. But I got it for free on £20 a month, I'd have had to pay up front for a Desire, plus it has very solid aluminium construction, which is good for me...

It's worth checking out though IMO, after a few months the Bada OS will start catching up and getting more apps (at least that's what I'm gambling on...)

An iPhone just isn't worth the expenditure, they're very nice, but not THAT nice.

another vote for the htc Desire.

    Awesome.

Aye, I'm with the Desire too!

You can set the keyboard to QWERTY, compact QWERTY (2 letters per button, to increase button size/accuracy although I find it utterly bollox) or Phone Keypad just like a standard phone.

Yes, a lot of apps are non-essential, but it's nice to find something useful now and then! I just got the free version of SportsTracker and now have a full GPS tracker for when I go mountain biking. I tried it out last night and it's amazing! I can now record all my routes, and get a complete breakdown of speed/altitude/calories burned etc... I was considering a decent bike computer but this thing on my phone for FREE TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!

Touch screen - normal buttons get clogged with dust etc at work
Alpha numeric text input - not keen on qwerty for phones but guess I could get used to it.
Be able to access full internet - MR, Youtube, Facebook etc
    Decent sound/video
    Decent camera
Good range of apps - Nokia's biggest let down imo
    Minimum 8gb memory

Only three I've briefly looked at are
HTC Desire (heard a lot of forumites raving about it)
Nokia X2 (similar to current phone but better specs, same shit apps though)
I-phone (more likely the previous version as v4 will be way too pricey)
you want another 18/24 month contract? how much you want to pay a month?
you getting any of those phones as a free upgrade?

have a look at the Sony X10, the mini will be too small for you I think, but the Desire is probably the top of the on 02, Samsung have some quick fast super powered phones but 02's offerings are naff.

If you like the 5800, look at the Nokia X6, Sony Ericsson Vivaz or some of the Samsung touch screen phone. The Desire is similar to the 5800 in touchscreen alone.

P.S. I work for O2, so listen to me

I forgot to mention sat nav! It works via the google map app.
Now, I haven't actually tried it yet, but it's on the phone already and it's free so I can't complain if it doesn't. It's not the reason I got the Desire but it is (hopefully) a tidy extra.
