Desire Sat Nav runs through Google Navigation, it's awesome. For a GPS tracker I use Google My Tracks. Seems to do the job.

HTC are releasing a few more shortly so it might change in 6 weeks. The wildfire will be out and there is a new top end phone coming in but I can't remember the name and I don't know release dates.

Navigation? I haven't got that, I'm just using the Maps app that came as standard. Click on Menu>Directions then add a start and end point. It'll give you sat nav and even do it in street view!
I'll have a look at it though, and I'll give My Tracks a try too. Always good to compare the options.

I've been with O2 for 10 years but they wouldn't do me a deal on the Desire, so I went with vodafone. Free phone, less money per month, more minutes.

Huey2: get yourself gStrings too. Another freebie, only this time it's a guitar tuner! It works an absolute treat. It even worked at band practice! I had it sitting on top of my bass amp and having adjusted the mic setting, it worked spot-on, even over the noise of the other guitarist. I'll get a dedicated tuner pedal if and when we start gigging, but in the meantime this thing is brilliant and it means I can tune my acoustics too.

For me when I use maps and select by car it goes through to google navigation for turn by turn driving directions read out loud, it's linked in tightly but I think it's a different program as I had to download it seperatly from maps at the marketplace.

+1 for gStrings. Great little app.

Ah yes, I see what you mean. I've just put some directions in and it changes to Google Navigation when I press 'Go'. I updated Google Maps the day I got the phone, so it must be integrated now, albeit in a beta version.
Have you tried it in your car? Do you have a dashboard mount for your Desire?

Yea I use it in the car, just as good as any cheapy TomTom I've used. I have a vent holder for it but it's satisfactory at best. I quite fancy one of these...

.. but I have no idea how strong that grip really is. I can also recomend case-mate if you are looking for a thin skin type thing for some protection.

You'll be fine, you just press phone and dial a number! If you want to chanel your exitement you can dump all of your contacts into google contacts then it will sych straight over with your phone when you get it. Helped me minimise first day fucking around time.
