    Default New Liverpool Manager

Looks like Roy Hodgson will be named the new manager of Liverpool FC. Not sure the big name prima donna's are keen on the appointment and a couple have already expressed their concern.

So, can Hodgson do anything with Liverpool or is it simply a case of bringing someone in who can calm the stormy waters?

At least he can't be as negative as Benitez was......

I'd like to have seen him stay another season with Fulham, see how high they can get in the league, but maybe he decided he'd done all he could.

If he can't do anything with Liverpool, I don't know who can... he's done the full range of management from Inter to the Swedish league.

He's a manager who is used to dealing in the middle-ability of players and getting results out of them...should suit Liverpool down to the ground!

I think there'll be a spell of mid-table mediocrity for some time to come, at least until they sort their ownership woes out.

I think the liverpool fans meed to really look at what he did at Fulham; not that much really. He changed a shite team into a less than shite team in the Premier League. They also had a good run in the Europa.A good cup run does not mean all of a sudden you are able to rejuvenate what should be a top 4 club, one of the best in Europe.

sounds like Shteve Maclaren to me.

I don't think he's what Liverpool want or need.

Top bloke, highly intelligent. The problem at Blackburn was that he was seen as being too cerebral for the players, most of whom are thick as pigshit. He famously had Kevin "pudding" Davies on a diet of cabbage soup. Resulted in him scoring all of 2 goals in a season and being sold at a big loss. We wouldnt' want him back.

I've not seen this.. Who in particular has expressed concern. Personally, I think they're lucky to have him!

To be honest I'd blame that on Rovers paying far too much for Davies in the first place.

I reckon this will be a pretty good move, not sure whether he will made an immediate impact, I guess time will tell, and we will be seeing another newmanager in the next year or so.

what the 2 goals and the cabbage soup?!

but yeah, 7.2 mill if I remember. Plain daft. Hodgson did that as well I think. Pretty sure he signed him. But he's been a damn sight better at Bolton.

Seems the thinking behind appointing Hodgson is, the idiot owners want to sell Torres, Gerrard, Mascherano and others to ease the debt in the club. Benitez always said he would leave if this happened, and now he is no longer there, so the idiot owners now have free rein BUT need a manager who can ensure Liverpool stay in the top half of the PL, and so Liverpool get Hodgson.

If they do manage to find a buyer then I'd expect Hodgson to go but I don't see a buyer materialising in the next 12 months, maybe even 24 months.
