I laugh at your nettle roots. I can pull nettle roots up with my bum cheeks. I've been doing hawthorn, gorse and rabbit proof fence. Mans stuff dontcha know dontcha know.

Hawthorn and Blackthorn, I hates the bloody stuff! Cut down enough of the stuff in the past year, had grown to about 10' tall.

The one I hates the most is Elderberry, i'll quite happily take an axe to any Elderberry tree what I does spy.

Oooh a good blackthawn hedge is fun to lay, all that scraped skin and thorns in your knee's
elder? why would anyone cut down elder? fantastic tree, loverly elderflower wine to be had, elderberry recipies then in the winter take some elder stems de-pith and make flutes!
as for nettles, there's nettle soup, nettle tea etc and the stems make fantastic garden cordage.
doubt they make decent guitar strings tho, tbh i haven't tried...

Elderberry is a nightmare, grows anywhere and isn't easy to kill off.

So when it's taking root in brickwork it's time to get out the axe and creosote.
