Microwave Ovens - should we be afraid?

Microwaves are responsible for the unexplainable taste of badger you sometimes get in your mouth in the morning.

There was a recent science project where two indentical plants were fed with boiled and then cooled water. One set of water was boiled in a microwave, the other in a standard kettle. Within 7 days the plant fed with the microwaved water was dead.

This would be a very easy experiment to repeat.

It's bollocks.

Microwave radiation is non-ionising.

The human digestive system doesn't "recognise DNA" fer starters.

It reminds me of when my not-too-bright uncle tried to convince us to get rif of our microwave because "it denatures proteins". Lady BMcH laughed and laughed and asked him if he ever boiled, steamed, baked, roasted, grilled, griddled, fried or otherwise heated his food.

No probs. When most people hear "radiation" they think of ionising radiation - that's the sort that increases your chances of cancer, fer instance. If you walk into an industrial microwave oven and it's on you'll end up plenty dead, but your normal kitchen variety one is a benign impliment.

Certainly if there were any genuine risks they'd have been banned decades ago.
